Luminary colour direction book issue 29  - Spring/Summer 25 and onwards

"- The stories in this book are deeply rooted in our kinship with Gaia. At May Day, we dance to herald the unfolding of new green shoots of Spring, welcoming in the light and the end of winter. We then are drawn to the Mediterranean Sea; we honour her clear greenish-blue depths. And as we enter High Summer, the Solar rays intensify and heat up, forcing us to retreat indoors, protect ourselves, and go slowly. Hot fire oranges and scorched Earth browns call to us, demanding our attention and deep love.
The planet needs us to build a kinship of co-creation, an interconnected, kindred global family of makers, inventors, business leaders and dreamers." Anna Starmer

TREND STORIES:

GAIA FOLK. This modern Gaia Revolution is weaving multi-cultural and multi-generational community threads back into our living landscapes. New Age mythologies and revitalised May Day folk festivals reconnect us back to our home, Mother Earth.
WATER RITES. Travel to Ibiza and Formentera inspires a Mediterranean palette, and a deep longing to protect and maintain clean water for all life on Earth.
UNFOLDING. This is a study of colour in nature at a certain turning point in the seasons, from the super-bloom in California to the flower meadows in wild north Ibiza. We look to permaculture, botany and ecology, the modern era of the cut flower garden.
PARTICIPATE. Through art and craft mediums, we use colour, shape, texture and form to express our inner feelings, emotions and anxieties.
HERMETIC. The word Hermetic has layers of meaning; it can refer to a sense of protection, of being completely closed off from outside sources (like a hermit). This concept seems the perfect antidote to our modern information age, where we might seek hermetic solitude and peace in response to the constant barrage of external noise.
SCORCHED. Our planet is heating up, the temperatures are rising, and the air is thick with smoke. How can we alchemise this destructive, devastating power into a force for good? How do we redirect our climate narratives to ignite a fiery rebirth, can a transformed global collective consciousness rise out of these ashes?
